Embossing is a two stage process. First the embossing tool is made which incurs a one off set-up cost (we normally supply sample tins at this stage for approval). Then either existing tins are embossed, or the embossing takes place as the tins are formed during the manufacturing process (normally for large runs with longer lead times, or where litho printing is required). Embossing can be combined with silk screen print or litho print.
'Film Can' Style Embossing. If you would like either Tin A or Tin C embossing in the style of a 'Film Can', as in the picture above, this can be arranged using existing tools, avoiding the cost of creating a new embossing tool (ie. you only pay the unit cost for embossing).

Silk Screen Printing
Smaller quantities can be screen printed onto tins 'off the shelf', using 1 colour on round tins*, and up to 5 colours on other tins, with either inks or tinted varnish. Screen print can only be applied to flat areas of the tin (normally the lid), so when combining screen print with embossing, print must be kept clear of the embossed areas.
Prices below are for printing the outside of either the lid or the base. If you require the outside of both the lid and base printing, please double the costs. It is not possible to print base of Tin D.

Litho Printing
Full colour high resolution litho print can be used on larger runs. The metal is litho printed prior to formation of the tins (known as print through manufacture), which has the advantage that the tin can be printed on all surfaces, including embossed areas, and the sides. However, lead times are generally longer as we cannot litho print pre-formed tins 'off the shelf'.
